Did you tell Rachel at work about the podcast you listened to 37 days ago, or the one you heard this morning?
The book, Miracle Morning has sold 3M+ copies, and a good chunk of those were referrals from people who read it way more than 37 days ago.
Why are they still recommending it?
It’s because, they interacted with it this morning.
Principle: To be top of mind, appear daily
AG1 has framed their entire company around this principle. Replace your greens with AG1, every day, and never miss a day. Drink first thing after waking, one scoop, travel packs, daily “ritual,” etc..
The invariable cue: wake up.
The easy bolt-on habit with tons of benefit: drink AG1.
It’s a small, low-effort change to the daily routine that makes a big difference… for the user, and bottom line of the company.
Tactics
Gotta be honest. This hijack is tricky to employ if your product doesn’t already cater to it.
So if you’re an soon-to-be entrepreneur, maybe add this filter to your list as you search for the perfect product. Daily habits are powerful sellers.
If you already have a product you’re committed to, here’s how to weave it into an existing routine:
Find the anchor (don’t invent one) - a moment your customer already has daily (coffee, peeing, finish at the gym, etc.)
Design a 30s ritual - after you [anchor], then do [ritual]. Ex: after you [feed the dog], then scratch his belly using ScratchBoy 2000 to let him digest.
Put your product in the habit’s scene - Counter caddy, fridge magnet, tray by the door, a stand for your thing. If it’s in the cupboard you already lost.
Give it a sticky name - Daily Double | Itch-Free 3 | Unfold and toast.
Make progress visible - send your customer a chart of what they’ve done, and where they’re going next by using your product. Streaks and interesting metrics do well here.
Habits
Start using your product daily if you don’t already. Take careful notice of how, when, where, and why you choose to use it when you do.
You’ll have a really good idea of how it should work into your customer’s daily life.
God speed,
Mike
